The New Bridge

This entry is mainly for the benefit of Jiajing. I wanted her to see the progress on the bridge that had taken place since she left for the states. Let’s begin with a picture of how it should look when finished.

The north side of the bridge is shown below. The second level is for traffic going east and allows traffic to enter from the south. The third level is for traffic going west and allows traffic to enter from the north.

The next picture is of the south side of the bridge. They are currently placing the forms at level three for the span over the highway below. Later they will construct the second level coming across from the north side to allow traffic going north to make a left turn to go east. This left turn lane and the left turn lane from the north will be built after the east/west lanes are in service.

As shown below, construction has just started on the right turn lane for traffic going north. Buildings that were in the way along the right side of both the north lane and the west lane have been removed.

Traffic going west over the third level and traffic going south making a left turn will come down this side of the bridge, shown below.

Bridge construction like this is happening at various intersections to help improve the flow of traffic.
