My oldest daughter, Maria, was on her way to the hospital to work and was waiting in line at a traffic light. Fortunately there were two vehicles ahead of her, which kept her from being pushed out into high speed cross traffic in the intersection.
Coming up behind her was a surgeon on her way to the hospital, totally unaware of what was ahead of her on the road and made a direct hit at about 40 mph into the back of my daughters car, driving it into the car ahead of her and that one into the next one. If Maria had been the only one waiting at the light the results could have been tragic.
Maria was focused on the traffic light and was totally unaware that she was about to get a jump start. Fortunately she was just bruised, but the impact was hard enough to knock her sandals off her feet.
If the driver of the yellow vehicle had been more alert she could have driven off on the right shoulder where there was plenty of room to stop. In fact, if she had been focused on her driving and not on other things, she would not have wrinkled her vehicle either - well, maybe more than a wrinkle.
