China: The Country of Change

The lead article in my next newsletter features the changes taking place in China. I thought I would include that article as a blog entry with active links to some interesting articles and video.
Building a modern infrastructure in China is an enormous project requiring billions of RMB’s and the labor of thousands of people, both of which seem to be in good supply. Across China a high speed rail system is being built, which will leave the U.S. in the dust. The above link is to a very good article, with some good pictures and is worth a look.
China is also determined to become king of electric cars and hybrids. With no place to build roads in old cities, the plan is to build roads or rail systems above old streets or build subways under the city. The following link shows the first segment of an elaborate system planned for Wuhan. Steve really enjoys riding on it each Wednesday when he goes for lunch.
They plan to add new airports to the infrastructure; 97 are planned in the next 12 years. These airports are really nice.
Let us not forget the need of new roads. They are springing up everywhere.
Along with a growing infrastructure is the growth and change in Christianity. That which was below the surface is coming into view. To get a feel of this check out the link to The Underground Chinese Church Goes Public. This link includes a short video.
Living in China and watching this country come to life is both exciting and fearful. To feed our greed in America we went into debt and in the process transferred out wealth to others. We will never get it back and others will use it to distance themselves from us. As we decline in our moral position we speed up this process. Each time Steve return from China his heart grieves him more deeply concerning this.
